5 Reasons Your Girl Should Attend GSSOAZ's Virtual Summer Camp: Camp Log On

Girl Scout camp is a magical experience. But whether it’s distance, time, money, or even a global pandemic, not everyone can access the summer camp experience. That’s why we created Camp Log On, a virtual camp experience for all girls (whether she’s a Girl Scout or not)!

Girls get the chance to try new things, meet new friends, and discover more about who they are with the support of trained counselors and near-peer mentorship. If you didn’t get to go to camp as a kid, imagine the adventure of a lifetime with all your best friends, while your big sisters cheer you on. We’d love all those Girl Scouts to join us! Here are five wonderful reasons to sign up for virtual summer camp:

Add structure and variety to her summer with fun, meaningful activities!

Summer is a time of freedom for girls, but structure can create support for exploration and fun! Along with regularly scheduled all-camp activities, each level of Camp Log On meets at the same time daily every week. During that time, girls spend time with age-level peers, camp and council staff who get trained to give girls maximum support and fun virtually.

Each program includes a Camp Box where you will find activities (and surprises!) that you will work on individually and with the rest of your camp unit. The included activity guide will be your gateway to connecting with your camp friends, discovering new skills, and exploring new ideas while inspiring your courage, confidence and character at home...together!

Connect with camp sisters new and old!

Sisterhood is at the core of the Girl Scout experience, and it’s no different with Camp Log On! With opportunities to see the same group of girls every day, as well as time with larger groups at campfires singing silly songs and telling stories, girls are bound to make a new friend or two, and spend time with their old ones!

Pro Tip— Know some girls or families who are interested in Girl Scouts? Camp Log On is a relaxing way to give the Girl Scout experience a test-drive from the comfort of their own homes. Meet new friends, have a blast, come back for another week (or a whole year of membership) if they like it!

It fits easily into your families schedule!

Camp Log On is intended to keep girls connected to the camping spirit, by facilitating connections, and being a safe and fun space for girls to share a collective camping experience, all from the comfort of your home! Are you travelling this summer, and missing out on Resident Camp? Or Day Camp? Take your Camp Log On box on the road and have family fun whenever you want!

If transportation is an issue, but your girl still wants to participate, we will take care of the rest. We will mail your box to you with all of the instructions to participate with her Girl Scout sisters.

Add some laughter, joy, and silliness to her life.

They say laughter is the best medicine, and they’re right! Not only does laughter and silliness help us have healthy brains by producing endorphins, but it’s good for the soul. Having fun and feeling joy is a vital part of growing up and being a kid. From musical-themed lunch Girl Scout singalongs to silly stories and skits around a virtual campfire, Camp Log On is dedicated to making sure your girl has a good time. During the first year of Camp Log On, the 2020 pandemic drained the fun out of so much of life.

Keep active and explore

Girl Scouts are risk-takers and go-getters, and Camp Log On is all about creating opportunities to explore and get active! Each week has a unique theme, such as health and wellness or adventure and looking ahead, that girls get to explore together in their peer groups, and each day of the week cycles through a specific program area as well, such as STEM, dance, art, music, and nature! This makes sure that girls get to try a little bit of everything to find new passions and learn new skills.

All the curriculum is designed to be as accessible as possible, using minimal materials or items you probably already have at home. Our staff will provide you with a list of possible materials just in case, but the goal is to keep costs low and fun at an all-time high!

Campers and staff alike had a blast this past year, and we hope to see many more girls join us on our virtual camp adventure.
